Our Proofer is dying . . .

We currently have an HP Designjet 130 (nr) - don't have a clue if its an nr or not - but either way - its dying - what would be a good replacement for a contract proofer? We are a 29" shop running primarly 4-6 color jobs and have a Heidelberg Prosetter and associated software.

Ideas will be appreciated.

thanks

Epson Stylus Pro 7900 or 9900 probably best suits your needs. If your Prinect software is not up-to-date (ColorProof for MetaDimension probably in this case) you won't likely be able to drive any of the modern proofers. Alternatively you can drive it via a third-party RIP (EFI, ORIS, GMG, etc.) but if I'm not mistaken the Heidelberg ColorProof product is based on the EFI product.

Go with Epson and you won't have regrets.

7900 and 9900 or 7900 and 9900 proofing edition (EFI bundled RIP)

We just put in an Epson 9900 with the integrated efi rip. It replaced an epson 9800 run by Dupont Chromapro. So far loving it. Fast and very accurate. Good bang for the buck.
