Pandora or Plato?

We are a folding carton manufacturer and are looking to purchase a step and repeat software program.

1. All layouts will be will be stepped to an existing CFF2 dieline file.

2. We will be using this in conjunction with Fuji's XMF


Both are about the same price and was wondering which one to go with?

I haven't used both, but I like Pandora. It's easy and intuitive to use and has very few bad habits. There hasn't been an update in a while, but support is generally good. I'd suggest you try getting demo versions of programs you're interested in and try them out. I believe Pandora in it's current version will run in demo mode if you do not have a license.

The best way is to check both of them (you can order live demo or even time-limited license) and then make right choice.
Plato is good solution for folding carton and besides basic package has some options for automated workflow (PowerStepper) and trapping.
Most interesting Plato tools are:
- CAD and Graphics import (including CFF2),
- viewX for quality control,
- Layout and nesting,
- Ink tools (mapping, coverage and eaters),
- SmartFlaps,
- SmartMarks,
- export press-ready layouts to PS/PDF,
- support for XMP, JDF and CIP3.
