pitstop error "Illegal character in EOL marker at byte offset 3425058, 53748322"

Hi all,

This is my first thread in PrintPlanet.

Just signed-in, and happy to see there were lots of conversation related to all types of activities.

We have pdf's files which need to be preflighted. When attempting to preflight I am getting a long reports stating that:

Welcome to PrintPlanet, congrats on your first post.
Unfortunately this is not a standard preflight error so it's probably best to contact Enfocus directly for some feedback.
If you send a mail to [email protected] with as much information as you can they will get back to you.
It would help if you could also cut and paste the information from the support tab in the 'about' panel of PitStop.

Shaji,

Seems file corruption to me.
Are these recently created or old files? Were they stored on a Windows file server and copy by a Mac? It could be that the file's resource has been messed up.

Have you tried doing a save as in Acrobat on one of these files and see if that helps?

cheers,
Bert

Thanks for the response.

Let me tell you how this was created.

Its an hardcopy scanned copy to ebook:

Outlined below is the process for creating PDF/A-1b from hardcopy –
1. Scan –
a. Bitmap pages @ 600 dpi
b. Color / Grayscale pages @ 600 dpi

2. Page makeup which includes page resizing, adjustment of color and black-white pages, setting levels, curves, etc. using photoshop
3. Open all the processed pages in Abbyy Fine Reader 11
4. Run corrected process in OCR
5. Save as ‘PDF/A’ document

Once we created the PDF using OCR, we do bookmarks, linking, TOC links, numbering etc. using Acrobat Professional.

I hope this helps.

Shaji,

that's a lot of steps for troubleshooting... :)
What's the reason you save it to PDF/A once you have done the OCR?

What happens if you preflight your document with Acrobat Pro preflight options? I believe here you can preflight for PDF/A as well.
Also which version of PitStop are you on?

cheers,
Bert

Thanks bert for the reply.

PDF/A is client requirement.

Our Enfocus Pitstop is server version 8 update 4.

When I preflight the PDF the got the huge list of errors which I mentioned in my thread.

This is ebook pdf, Just need to know that what is the error denotes "PDF/A-1b : Low level object format: Illegal character in EOL marker at byte"

So that we can speak to client.
