Plate punch/bender

Hi guys,

we have just bought a used SM 74 semi auto plate change, and from what i understand the plates should be bent by a manual machine of which i thought it is supplied with the machine. Now the supplier is asking for money so that he can supply a BEIL plate punch/bender. Could you please advice me, as i thought this comes as a standard with the machine.

David

Ask the previous owner what did he use to bend the plates. If you don't know who he is and some middleman supplied the machine to you, ask why didn't he bother to send a complete delivery list before putting money on the table.

maybe the guy has 2 presses and only sold one and needed the punch/plate bender for the other machine, either way unless you actually signed for a plate bender with the press I dont think he is obligated to give you one, new press most certainly, used= buyer beware

Dear Maxon
thanks for your reply, in fact the supplier of the machine is dealer of used machine so has many machines, as i said earlier, i thought plate bender an accessory of the machine as just like the tanks to put washing solution, dampening water etc. Do is it mean i am mistaken or he is taking me for a ride.

Hi David - I have run into this issue time and time again. The plate punch/plate punch-bender combo is an add on even with a new machine, and the printer was really not obligated to send the accessory with the machine. If they were running multiple Heidelbergs, they may have only purchased one. Was it an oversight on the machine brokers' part to inform you of this? Sure, but not one you really have any recourse over. If the broker would like to stay in your good graces, he should probably either supply you with one or offer to split the cost, but good luck with that! Printers Repair Parts in Canada sells a combo for a reasonable price, I think about 5,000 USD, but the Beil might be a better product. Good Luck, Steve
