The existing fount solution when it drips or runs on to the plate cylinder after a press stop or web break the solution drys down (the water content evaporates to leave the concentrate fount solution) this the attacks the image on the plate.
It does it on most CtP thermal plates the premium priced kodak sword last a lttle longer before attack occurs -but it is still an issue and the drying time and the plate damage increases significantly in the summer months.
> We do not want to bake the plates , but ideally want to find out what founts are being used with which plates on other Lithoman presses around the world.
Would like to use other non premium priced plates to remain competitive
We have tried some of the plate safe founts recommended by our suppliers but they then cause other issues like emulsification and the water level needed is not stable during the run /tinting.
Any input from fount specialist would also be welcome - reply here or email me direct on [email protected]
Thanks in advance
