Agfa Corporation has an exciting opportunity for an Plate Technical Manager to join our team.
Agfa, is a world leader in prepress solutions for the commercial, newspaper and packaging printing industries. In addition, we are quickly expanding our assortment for the fast-growing market of industrial inkjet printing with the development of state-of-the-art printers and inks for applications such as billboards, packages and decoration
This position may be based out of the following location(s) and surrounding area:
Baltimore, MD
Atlantic City, NJ,
Philadelphia, PA
Richmond, VA
Charlotte, NC
Responsibilities:
Proactively support sales efforts and demonstrations of Agfa products at key account prospects and National Accounts. This would include assisting the Account Manager in qualifying prospect needs and Agfa opportunities.
Review product features and benefits with customers and dealers by working as a team with the Sales Managers.
Promote and prove Agfa product cost effectiveness with Agfa devices and processors.
Provide guidance for successful system conversion to Agfa products within the zone/ region. This includes responsibility for technical demonstrations and installations once materials, equipment and schedule are arranged by the Account Manager.
Customer training and follow up programs to ensure continued satisfaction and business growth. This will include input into the development of training materials.
Advise Account Managers on an ongoing basis in product use and application.
Following initial TAC or Account Manager attempts at problem resolution, the TM will be responsible for second level troubleshooting for the business. The assumption is that the Technical Manager will assume full reponsibility for resolving technical issues. This may vary by geographic constraints. The Account Manager would become the conduit for transfer of customer information to the technical organization.
Provide on site analysis, troubleshooting and fingerprinting as required. Rapid customer response time is crucial to this position.
Provide answers to customers on Agfa products, prepress, printing, and emerging technologies.
Mandatory maintenance of up to date and accurate record of customer activity via common database supplied.
Provide primary activity focus within the zone while bringing a national systems focus to product support. Occasional travel to other zones may be required.
Support Plate Technical activities on a National basis on accounts $200k or better
Support project management for “New” key large + multi location commercial / corporate accounts
Regional dealer support as required
PL support as required
Work closely with Global Services Technical Product Support Manager to develop “Rules of the Road” for technical assistance
Become involved early in Plate sales selling cycles @ 200k+ targets
Maintain connections with HQ Plate Applications Group
Cross-train on all pressroom products
Maintain current advanced knowledge of Agfa Digital plate products
Become point of contact with Plate Room Technical Managers for advanced support
Qualifications:
The Technical Manager must possess the ability to deal with complex issues and then apply an appropriate course of action to meet the desired result. He or she will be expected to provide and project an expert ability to solving problems and providing customer solutions for Agfa products within their scope of responsibility. Maintaining extensive technical product knowledge will be crucial in supporting this role.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
Experience
7 – 10 years experience in solving problems and customer contact
5+ years of experience with Agfa products
Experience in maintaining an extensive technical product
Specific skills (core competencies, key specialities, technical, human relations or managerial skills, and knowledge areas necessary)
Ability to deal with complex issues and then apply an appropriate course of action to meet the desired result. He or she will be expected to provide and project an expert ability to solving problems and providing customer solutions for Agfa products within their scope of responsibility.
