Hi gang

Trying to figure out if the later versions of preps (5 or 6) has a proof color like feature? This would be a dieline drawn for the page trims, stock size and plate size (signa station has this function). It is useful when proofing before plating.

Thanks, p

Outside of trims and bleeds, the answer is no. I had the same inquiry about a month ago. At least that's what Kodak has told me. Kodak did hint that Preps 7.0 would have the features your looking for.

You could try using Smart Marks to place lines along the edges of the plate size and sheet size. You'd have to set them to be a Spot color and just don't output that color when you send plates. You'd also have to tell your rip to overprint the color so that if you used them for trim edges it wouldn't knockout of the actual printed matter.

Yes, Preps offers this as a SmartMark capability!! Since the introduction of Smartmarks in Preps 5, there have been 3 SmartMark Groups!

Gutters - This is a group of line marks that will show the boundaries of the horizontal and vertical gutters.
Outside Imposition - This is a group of line marks that will show the boundaries of all 8 margin areas outside of the imposition. The bleed area is displayed as a dotted line to show where it will overlap into the margins.
Page Trimboxes - This is a group of line marks that will draw a trim box in SSiCustomColor 101 around every page on the signature.

Hey tapin2

So to confirm these smartmarks you mention can be printed/proofed out on a hardcopy proof not just visual indicators on screen?
