We want to print both sides of a 350 gsm board on a 1/4 perfecting press in one pass. Please can someone share their experience and the problems faced if any. We are considering buying a used Heidelberg SM/PM 52 press. Would It help to have an end of line IR?

An SM52 will have no problems with this, run long grain stock to avoid marking. An IR dryer will help reduce spray powder and speed up drying. There are both conventional and Alcolor versions of the SM52, do some research on Alcolor before purchasing.
I can't comment on the PM52, apart from saying that I would lean towards the Speedmaster.

Thanks - Would you suggest looking for a 1/4 or a 4/1 machine? We print the 1 color on the back side of the C1S board which tends to try very slowly. The machine will be with alcolor and IR. We need to print short grain.

Do you have any experience printing 1/4 or 4/1 on a SM52?

1/4 would be preferable to 4/1 so the jobs deliver with the 4C side up in the delivery
I don't have experience with this configuration on an SM52. We used to have a 1/4 + coater SM74

Haven't seen a 4/1 machine so far, you will get a 1/4 machine mostly. SM52 would be a better choice than PM52.

Thanks - since the non coating side of the board doesn't dry easily so the main concern was marking when the boards perfects.
