Problem loading film on Linotronic 560

Hi, I have an old Linotronic 560. It has been a real workhorse just plodding along day after day for years but recently it just wouldn't load film. It's as if it doesn't sense that it has film in it. Normally when you load film on a 560 it will load the first bit and then stop and prompt you to adjust the film before you load the last bit. Ours will just continue loading without stopping and if you stop it manually by rebooting the 560 it will reverse the film back out the moment you try to do a film advance.
Any clues on how to solve this?

its not easy but the whole top of the machine comes off. 2 90 deg turn screws in front then tilts back atleast that is how the 330 worked. then some plastic covers. film path is fairly simple . I would bet you have a peice of film in a sensor. just a guess.

Thanks for that but I've already had the top off and the capstan removed, the problem seems to be more complex than a bit of film. Perhaps I should have mentioned that we have cleaned the magnet and hall sensor and they seem to have no problem but I may be wrong still.

and you cant hit stop and cut and then start from there. can you cut a peice of film and run say five feet thru and make it think it ran out of film.

Yo, GusG,

I might suggest that you check all the connections for the sensor & around the items you might have "bumped" while cleaning. Also if you are comfortable with it, you might try disconnectiing power and "reseating" your circuit boards below. I recently solved a problem with our 330 by blowing out the lower area of dust and pulling and reseating the cards accessed from within the front panel cover. Ground yourself on the frame, then push the locks above and below the cards pulling them loose and reseating (one at a time). Prior to this I would blow out the dust in that area (if any) with a moderate pressure of air from a filtered compressor (no water in the system). Could be you simply have a weak connection in a circuit board or plug.
