QM46 Roller end play

Hi,

I've decided to take another look at my roller streaks & can say my form rollers definitely have 2-3 mm end play.

Is this enough to worry about and is there any way of adjusting it on a QM/PM 46?

Thanks in advance

you don't want any side to side play on your ink form rollers. This will cause your hangers and latches to wear out. The major causes of your streaks on a QM46 would be rollers maxed out of adj., Ink dist osc drive cams being worn or the roller end play you are talking about. For the end play you can use a feeler gauge next to the roller bearing to measure and in stall roller shims based on your measurement. Try to use shims on both sides as even as possible. Install forms back in press with out the transfers and idle press. Watch for side to side play again and correct. If you like give me a call!

Stan, is correct in saying that severe end play will cause streaks. It will probably wear out the hangers also. I found that on relatively new or good operating presses if you can shim the rollers so that they fit really tight in the hanger and not move side to side you will have less problems. However, after you do this and they still move you better call Stan or Heidelberg technician to get the hangers changed. There are probably a lot of them around now looking for work.
