Quark 7 Print problems

Hi all, new poster here. At work we have Quark 7 on a G5 and a Power Mac., and Quark 6 on a Power Mac. On our network is a Canon iR105+ printer. I have been testing with Quark, InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat Pro. The mac with Quark 6 can print to the iR105+ with all four tested programs. The other two macs can print from all but Quark 7 to that same printer. They don't get any errors. What can I try to get these two macs to print to this printer from Quark 7?

I started off with macs in a pre-press shop several years ago, but my work since then has had me in the PC world. I am just now getting back to working with Macs, so there is much I have forgotten and much I just don't know. Your replies and patience are very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

Re: Quark 7 Print problems

I don't have QX7, so I cannot help you directly. But...

You don't say what OS is on the problem Macs.
Did you search the Quark forums? Here are some threads suggesting that Leopard may be the problem:

http://forums.quark.com/t/10102.aspx

http://forums.quark.com/t/18733.aspx

http://forums.quark.com/t/18875.aspx

The second and third ones deal with ppds "lost" after the Leopard upgrade.

There are also other threads about problems printing from QX7.

Good luck.

Re: Quark 7 Print problems

I doubt this is the culprit but are you flattening transparency when printing out of Quark 7?

Re: Quark 7 Print problems

Upgrade to 7.31 if you haven't. Most printing problems were solved with that upgrade.

Re: Quark 7 Print problems

I had the same problem. The driver that came with the Canon Printer was v.1.0 I found a v.2.0 on the Canon website, which works with Quark 7, but not Q.6 so I had to keep both. I hope this helps.
