@Possumgal — I know how to fix that problem.

Set a substantial, commensurate price for fielding their calls and helping them out of their bad spot(s). With a per call base price and additional charges for the time you spend helping them. The nuisance calls will disappear and they won't call you unless they really need your expertise and will be brief about it. Because your time is on their dime.

Just make sure you collect a substantial retainer before the first call comes in.

A rather pessimistic view of retirement. If you properly plan and save for it, it’s a wonderful thing!

Experience. Retirement is so "free-ing." Not worrying if customers are hitting the right shade of red, getting their toner orders, sweating sales goals, blah-blah-blah. I've removed all business contacts from my cell phone, and changed the number. Deleted all industry-related bookmarks from my web browsers. Heck, I wouldn't even be here replying if I didn't get an index e-mail from this forum. Ahh! I can breathe again!

For me not much is left after covid to be able to enjoy my life. Never imagined inflation can be so bad. Will work for few more years.

I'm doing so, but I have another 33 years before I reach retirement age - and I'm worried there will be another great depression before then where my 401k will be wiped and the retirement age will be upped to 75 or some such nonsense.

In 2008, when the bubble burst, my 401k went to less than 50% of its worth. Worried indeed. 12 years and a pandemic later, it's doing great. If you can figure this out, please let me know!

I had to quit my job earlier this year. Things got so bad there it affected by health. I hadn't planned to retire yet but... Fortunately, I have early Social Security coming in, and found a new career online, so I actually have more income than when I was working. Sweeeet.

No, my new career does not involve porn.
