I do know this machine quite well.
1st thing to look at is cam followers .We should start with the transverter. Inch the transverter so it sits vertical, now check the follower for wear. This wear is not uncommon as the blanket washer funnel on the drive side can become plugged .The solvent then will spill over wetting the follower and washing away its grease.(Confusing to many as they may grease regularly but often wear out cam followers prematurely also keep this in mind when searching out what may appear to look like water spotting after blanket wash on the drive side.) Not as likely on the impression cyclinder. While we are here lets check the torrsion bar.You should have tension in your grippers and no free play.If your grippers do have free float at all you need to change your torrsion bars. Make sure to change both at the same time. Make sure on removal to remove the brass disk (3mm) before drawing out the torsion bar and use a good 3mm. If you strip it your life has now become much more complicated. My guess is you have now found the problem but lets run over the impression cylinder regardless.
Inch your impression cam follower so your grippers are fully open. You will find this at the point of transfer coming into the unit.Reaching down check to see if you can freely move the follower away from its cam or find free play in the gripper tension. If so the torsion bars need replacing. A sure sign of torsion bar issues is a dull clacking sound from the unit.(means the follower is floating off the cam for part of the revolution.) most noticable during washup.
