Salesman Available in South Carolina

I have a friend that left Connecticut to take a position in South Carolina. Two days after he got there they told him they "had not gotten the contract they had hoped for and would not be needing him". Currently he's not working for anyone, just trying to get by with what work he can manage to broker at local shops.
