The Senior Director, Premedia Services, provides direction, coordination and management of premedia (print, online, advertising, and implementation of new technology) activities and staff. This position functions as a liaison for all aspects of preliminary process with internal and external customers. The Senior Director, Premedia Services develops and implements project management for process improvement and enhancements. In addition, the Senior Director will review and update internal processes to ensure that specified industry standards are met as well as monitoring software and hardware making recommendations for upgrade or new technology as necessary.
Essential Job Functions
Serves as liaison between Creative staffs, Content Center, Business Technology and IT. Responsible for providing direction to the Content Center, Premedia Services and On-line Production staffs. As new technology is introduced this position will have responsibility for implementation, workflow development and enhancements.
Direct the development and maintenance of all premedia schedules. Includes developing load leveling processes for Content Center and On-line Production to reduce peaks and valleys. Effectively manage costs and ensure on time deliveries.
Develop and implement Project Management process with our internal and external customers to improves scheduling, communication with our customers, Content Center and print vendors.
Provide senior management with premedia financial and analytical reports including performance to established goals.
Supervise Associate Director(s)to ensure responsibilities are met within acceptable standards.
Assist and advise on inquiries related to handling of premedia materials, on-line production, schedules, compliance with instructions and electronic publishing files.Participates in critiques of all magazines that request a critique to see premedia impact on the finished product.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent work experience with strong premedia technical/business background.
Experience:
Minimum 7 years experience with major publication/catalog and/or premedia vendor. Graphic arts experience, strong preference for experience with a major magazine printer and/or premedia facility. Proven experience in management.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Requires knowledge of premedia technical applications, printing process, premedia workflow, on-line software, file formats, material requirements, manufacturing operation, scheduling, and Desktop Publishing and its interface to premedia operations.
Must possess an understanding of premedia, web on-line processes and technology.
