Job Title: Sheetfed UV Offset Press Operator
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Department: Production
Reports to: Production Supervisor

Position Summary: The Sheetfed UV Press Operator has overall accountability for all activities related to operating a multi-unit press efficiently, safely and accurately. The Operator will play an essential role in helping Pointsmith achieve client satisfaction and meeting business goals. This role is responsible for directing the work of the press helper and also for providing coaching and training to the press helper.

Position Responsibilities/Duties:
• Starts press, examines printed copy for ink density, position on paper and registration, and makes adjustments to press throughout production run to maintain specific registration and color density
• Follows all required safety procedures, such as: PPEs, Ergonomics, Chemical Hazards, etc.
• Performs job in a manner that protects the health and safety of all employees
• Selects and installs printing plates, rollers, feed guides, gauges, etc. according to specifications
• Maintains production speeds and waste standards
• Interprets shop floor paperwork and drawings
• Materials and supplies management
• Keeps work area neat and clean
• Assists in other departments as needed

Job Requirements:
• High School Diploma or GED
• 2 – 5 years’ experience on an Offset UV w/Coater
• Must possess a thorough knowledge of press operation and functions
• Experience running press, troubleshooting and quality control
• Understanding of color monitoring systems and equipment
• Sound mechanical, math, communication, training, and interpersonal skills
• Material management skills
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance procedures
• Must be able to communicate well with others.
• Previous experience with plate-making is a plus
• Knowledge of plastic substrates is a plus

Essential Job Requirements:
• Good command of English language
• Must be able to read and understand written instructions
• Willingness to work shifts and overtime
• Regular and predictable attendance
• With or without an accommodation, must be able to lift and handle 40 lbs. while pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting and twisting; must be able to stand continually with frequent bending climbing and squatting
• Accurate full-color vision for all jobs dealing with color application and preparation
