Smudges on postcards from USPS sorting machines

I have been getting for a while now from customers complaining about their postcards being smudged. We know they are in good condition when they leave our shop, this damage is occurring on the sorting equipment at the post office. We print mainly on 100lb. gloss cover and 12 point C1S on a Xerox V180. Has anyone else experienced this and found any solutions? I don't have any coating equipment. (sample attached)

Known problem for a long time. Even had them burn through UV coatings so that isn't the final answer. When whoever is running the MLOCR equipment decides to lock down that feed look out, between that and the bin augers/belts if the piece hangs even slightly it will burn the mail piece.
