SORDZ feed problem

I'm having feeding problems on a 36" SORDZ. During feeding if "feed stop" is actuated on the console or if a misaligned sheet is detected, the first sheet at the head stops is not being halted in time to prevent that sheet from being partially captured by the primary grippers and sent through the press, most of the time mangled. At idle, shouldn't these primary grippers remain closed until paper feed is started? I've already replaced what I've assumed to be the componants that control the primary gripper action.( A pin and fiber shock dampener at the control arm of these grippers).

I don't know if it's the same with the SORD, but on Komori's there's a solenoid that activates to close the headstops when the feeder trips. If that solenoid is bad you'll have this problem.

Like I said.....I don't even know if the SORD has this solenoid, but something controls the opening and closing of the headstops and unless it's a timing issue....this might be your problem.

Good Luck

I'd be betting on the solenoid that controls your misfed sheet dam.... When it fails it tends to do exactly what you're talking about... It can also give you front lay register issues...
