Spiral Binding Closing Down

Spiral Binding (who also owns mybinding.com and binding101.com) is shutting down. They are/were a major distributor and manufacturer of mailing & bindery equipment and supplies. They also had their own line of inkjet envelope printers called CoverBind. It was first brought to my attention because another print shop manager said they could no longer get supplies for their CoverBind printer. I've confirmed this with my local Spiral Binding sales rep in California and it's explained in more detail here on PrintCAN.

spielassociates.com if someone is looking for an alternative. The equipment from both companies looks solid, but is well into the 5 figures.

Sorry, I meant we dropped a job off to be spiral bound and after not getting a call a week later saying that it was done, our driver went there and they were shut down. I think their liquidation auction is actually today.
Interesting...I didn't know they offered finishing services. I thought they only sold equipment and supplies.

Wow, thanks for the heads up. I haven't ordered from them in a while since we have a better local source, but that's gonna screw a lot of printers that used them primarily for bindery supplies.
Saddle Point Systems | Bay Area Binding & Print Finishing Experts since 1989 is a good alternative for supplies. They also sell some equipment.
Yeah, I was buying from my binding but when they got rid of the local warehouse and then suddenly it was taking weeks to get supplies, I went looking for an alternative. Discovered that Oregon Lamination was less expensive and usually could get me supplies day-of or just a few days instead of weeks.

Yeah I actually got an email from Skandacor, who we buy laminate from and they announced it trying to drum up business as they sell binding supplies too.
We mostly make our own coils as we have a coil former but I was getting my filament from Spiral.
Of course, turns out they were getting it from Plastikoil so I just reached out to them directly.
I'll still need a vendor for larger sizes that we can't make in-house.

Hello to all! Do you know of another vendor located on the East Side? Our shop is in Miami, FL and we were buying all binding supplies at Mybinding.com. Any help will be appreciated!

My binding appears to be open again according to the photo on the main page of their website. (attached)
I haven't tried ordering anything from them though.
