The end of recycling

Until the West understands that most "recycling" is simply a Band-Aid over an oozing wound of mindless and irresponsible packaging and consumption, this will remain a problem.

Admittedly, bulk wholesale packaging and human involvement in re-using unaltered consumer-sized packaging are "uneconomic" (read: "we would rather pull an attractive box of cereal off the shelf than use a scoop to lift out of a large bin into a re-used paper bag"). But that is what the choices seem to whittle down to.

"Of making many packages there is no end," as King Solomon might have put it.
