Tales of the 70's.
An Itek camera and an AB Dick.
Just get a fussy job up & running and through the haze you hear the dreaded; "Got 1,000 copies, customer waiting!"
What The F**k!!! (this was well before the days of initialisms such as WTF!)
Or 200 pages, 50 copies. Fingers like prunes from etching the plates. Ink flinging from the water roller because, don't tell AB Dick water & ink don't mix!
Instant/quick printers were making a ton of money. Lots of commercial printers refused to jump on the 'fad' and eventually closed. Letterpress & linotype operators who were reluctant to change lost their jobs.

LOL. We never did while you wait for offset, but we did do 1 hour turnaround. Most jobs were in by 11, out by 4. Good, Cheap, Fast. Pick 2.

The digital "printers" made quick printing possible. It also made it possible for customers to complain that it didn't look like offset.

Why does my reflex blue look purplish? Why isn't it as glossy? Yadda, yadda.
