Upgrading to Acrobat 7 purchasing old software

I need to upgrade some pc's to a newer version of Acrobat. Version 9 is the latest but we feel it is too new for our workflow and untested at the moment. The rest of our shop is using 7 just fine we also have version 8 but stick with 7 since it works very well. Calling Adobe gave me nothing but a dead end. They will only sell the latest version of the software. Seems silly to me it's not exactly taking up shelf space is it?

Anyone else know of some other options to purchase an older license?

Please be aware that even if you purchase Acrobat 7 today - Adobe won't take your support calls. We no longer support version 7 and earlier...

I would like to understand how/why you have stuck with version 7, since version 8 was faster and more powerful than v7 with a MUCH nicer toolset for prepress/production. Version 9 takes that even further..

While I agree with your opinion of version 9 I'll have to politely disagree with the Acrobat 8 statement. It was a dog.

Yeah v8 is pretty sluggish for me as well. I may upgrade to 9 to try it.
My machine:
XP Pro
Core 2 Quad 2.4GHz
4GB ram
8800GTS

I skipped 7, but if it kept the same menu as 6 then I would understand why he wouldn't want to change. For all the non-computer savy people v8 is difficult to use when you are familiar with the old version, everything looks different. I VERY reluctantly upgraded the office with v8 because I really don't want the headache of having to teach people how to use it all over again. But, that is the joy of computers. :)
