URGENT - Jammed Akiyama w/ Paper stuck under the transfer cylinder

We have a bestech 628, and one of our cam followers was going and started dropping sheets as it went along the transfer from 3-4 to 5-6. It now will only rotatate 1/3 of a revolution, and there are papers underneath that we can't reach or get at.

The machine was not assembled on a pit, so we can't get under it.

Any suggestions?

Make a sticky stick. Take a long rod, wrap duct tape backwards, pull sheets out. Old trick may work for ya!!

Nothing else I can think of, vacuum cleaner is a bit bulky, sticky stick is your best bet.

If we get this thing unjammed - and need to replace cam followers, do we need to do the shafts as well? Or can we just do the followers and the bushings?

Lock out the press and send someone from bindery to go in/under to get out the paper. Then yes get new followers.

Find the skinniest person in the shop and send him or her under there. We have the same problem with our Shinohara 74VP. Dropped sheets over time will build up and then add little scuffs or marks. If the paper is stuck in the press water helps break it down so you can pull it out easier. Good Luck

You can take off the cover on the transfer drums.

It's a pain, but you'll be able to clean out the jam.

Call akiyama @ 1 800 225 6311 and they'll walk you through it.
