Use of IC-304 RIP with BizHub C6500

Does anybody know if I can use one Creo IC-304 rip with two C6500s?

Wwe have a C6500 with a Creo IC-304. Love it! We were considering purchasing a second C6500, but the one available has a Fiery RIP. I am worried about learning a new RIP and also quality differences between the two C6500s with different RIP. So, can we use the same RIP we already have and connect it to both copiers?

There is only one scsi connection, and no mention in the user guide of running more than one. so my guess would be no. I'm sure your local rep would love to sell you a Creo rip for the second machine. ;)

What type of fiery is on the other machine and what options? A creo AND a fiery driven c6500 is the perfect situation, I wouldn't be too concerned about the learning curve on the fiery.

Cannot use 1 controller for 2 machines.

No, you cannot use a single Creo or Fiery to operate 2 separate machines. You can purchase a Micropress for controlling both machines. Depending on your workflow and output quantity, this may be a good option.
As for issues with varying quality of output using the 2 different controllers, yes, there may very well be differences if you run the same file through the different controllers. But, both the Creo and a Fiery give you the option to import color profiles and calibration sets and the ability to adjust spot colors individually. With these options it is not difficult to match the output of the two machines or to match other output devices including offset presses as long as the color you are attempting to match is within the color output gamma of the C6500.
I do agree that having one of each may be best for you in the long run as each controller has some items or easier ways of producing things that the other does not.
