VDP Software Switch Experience...

I wanted to share my experience after recently switching from FusionPro to Meadows DesignMerge Pro. I have only run 7 jobs through it so far, but I must say I am very impressed. I just finished outputting a PDF/VT file from DMP with about 6,000 records, making a 12,000-page PDF. This took 1 minute and 1 second. In FusionPro this would have taken me much longer, certainly more than 5 minutes. While that is impressive, what I find even more impressive is the way our Fiery RIPs handle the output files. When printing FusionPro PDF/VT files, they were very slow compared to PDFs and unbelievably slow compared to PPML files. The PDF/VT files I am making out of DMP run extremely fast, even when they are very complex.

Sure wish I had tried alternatives years ago. I found out about DMP on this forum.

I'm interested, can you give a ballpark of what the cost was? I can't see any transparent pricing on their site. And if it were yearly/perpetual until upgrade?

Nice to hear that, I have looked at them for years as an alternative to Xmpie but just not pulled the trigger yet, as much as I hate Xerox my designer is not looking to make a switch from something that is working good so far.
