What is acceptable variation in voltage (230) for Wide Format Printing???

Hello All,

I currently am having all kinds of issues (that I believe are due to irregularities with my electrical) with my ColorSpan 72UVR. The power is set up for 230, but my readings occasionally vary within 15 minutes of each other. Anybody have any information on this??

What type of variations are you seeing? Generally most devices can handle up to a +/- 10% variation without issues. I'm not familiar with that specific device. A more likely line issue may be either line noise or voltage drops below 200. Those problem generally occur when there are other equipment in the building that draw a lot of power or are old (large presses or paper cutters).

Manufactures are keen on pointing to noise or fluctuations as the cause of the problem, but in my experience it is never the cause of the problem. If you put a sensitive enough scope on any line you will see huge dips and spikes and it is easy to say that is the problem, but I suspect it is internal to the machine, try to simulate problem on a saturday when all other machines in building and neighbor hood are off and that may help isolate problem...

When your voltage drops your current goes up. If you are experiencing severe drops you will need to put a buck booster on the equipment, They aren't cheap but they will take care of the problem
