  • Agfa Energy Elite users, any opinions?

We are looking at switching from Kodak Sword to Fuji LHPJ or Agfa Energy Elite for plate cost and chemistry cost reasons. Any one have any comments on the Energy elite and how it does on press and processor wise? How about UV resistance and hybrid ink compatibility?

thanks in advance for the info,
    Dub

We are running the Agfa Elite plate and it is without reservation, the best plate we have ever used. We are supplying multiple print sites, Web, Packaging (no bake), VLF sheet fed and small litho with no press chemistry issues and excellent storage for re-useablity.

We too are looking to switch from Kodak Sword/poo45 the Newest version of the sword. We have tried the Fuji pj, and Agfa energy, as well as Agfa ameigo. All performed very well and all cost much less than what we pay for Kodak, plus the chemistry and maintainence is much less.

This is odd, we ran trials using the Energy Elite and found it far more sensitive than the P970 and that we ended up having to bake the plates (in excess of 20 000) because of scratching and general sensitivity during blanket wash, plate remakes increased by a fair amount when we ran the trials.

The plates were run on sheetfed as well as Octoman web presses, the plates and chemistry were set up by the agent so could there be something in the setup which "made" it more sensitive than the P970?

Thanks for your input, we too have tried the P45 plate from Kodak.. no cost savings and only used a little less water on press than the current sword. Also seemed to take a lot more tweaking on the platesetter to get it linear.

Tom: so have you decided on a plate yet? Or are you still testing?
