Riso vs Ricoh

Artpost,
Like I said my buddy works for them and I sell MFP's. Depending on where you live in the world you maybe able to find a local place to go see one. I thought he was pulling my leg too, until he showed it to me. I am sure the Riso guy can tell you who to call.

In reading this thread, I want to comment that RISO ComColor full-color inkjet printers can print on envelopes sizes #10 and up to 10x13 well. The color is consistent from day to day, it prints variable data in a single pass workflow, and because it is heatless (inkjet), it prints on (the paper portion of) windowed envelopes plus paper stocks up to 210# index. ComColor does not print on coated stocks because the ink needs to absorb into the stock. However, there is never an issue with fading, pealing and cracking, etc. The CPC mentioned earlier of $0.5 cents is accurate assuming a #10 envelope with color logo-return address area and standard black variable-data addressing. Finally because the inks are oil-based, the colors do not run when wet.

The HC5500 is the older model of RISO inkjet, uses the same inks and also does a good job printing on standard and windowed envelopes. The $40k price mentioned earlier is far too high for today's street price on either ComColor or the HC5500.

Greetings Bob Raus, Please let us know the current street prices for Comcolor 9050, 7050. What is the cost of 1set of ink & printhed and their yield. Thanks in advance.:)

RISO ComColor Inkjet Pricing

The honest truth is that printer and ink street prices vary from market to market. It also varies by product type and speed. There are many good deals on the older HC5500 now and the new ComColor series are very affordable as well. Ball park range is $20k-$35k with a full set of inks at approximately $2250. For reference, if you are printing a normal sized return address in full color, and a 4-5 line variable data address on a #10 sized envelope, you could expect a yield of over 100,000 envelopes on a set of inks - at default print driver settings. Of course your yields will vary depending on graphics design (size, coverage, etc.) and printer settings (resolutions, print densities, etc.).
