Icon Strangeness

I opened a folder on my MAC to look at a TextEdit file and just before the file's proper icon was displayed I saw this icon instead:

Who is the child?
Where was the photo taken? The fountain looks Italian or?
Any ideas?

I think that's the best one, surely gets your attention as you are locked out of your machine.
