Ink Densities

Hie guys, what are the standard CMYK densities when printing solid work and half-tone work on a sheetfed press. Should they be same or they must be different? Currently for all our jobs we running our C at 1.30, M at 1,20, Y at 1,20 & K at 1,68.

Hie guys, what are the standard CMYK densities when printing solid work and half-tone work on a sheetfed press. Should they be same or they must be different? Currently for all our jobs we running our C at 1.30, M at 1,20, Y at 1,20 & K at 1,68.

I do not believe that those solid ink densities are published anymore ( that's for a different discussion )

Remember that SIDs are an indirect measure of ink film thickness - not color.

The specifications are based on measuring dry ink not wet.

You are currently running:
C at 1.30, M at 1,20, Y at 1,20, K at 1,68.

If you're running a standard KCMY sequence and your target is Status E the numbers should be more like:
C at 1.40, M at 1,50, Y at 1,20, K at 1,70.

So, your C and M are low and the M is lower than the C when it should be higher. So your gamut is smaller than it could be and you are skewing towards Cyan. Your Grey balance is likely off and if your proof is set up to some standard like ISO or GRACoL your press operators are likely screwing around on press to hit the proof. You're likely not running optimally nor efficiently.
