konica C4080... Please share your experience

I have the opportunity to purchase a C4080 with a really low count and it includes basically every add-on konica has (machine is 35 feet long).......
that being said I am looking for peoples input.

Note: machine was inspected earlier this week by a konica dealer we use to service our other konica's and said its like new and they will provide a service contract.

Is the machine any good?
Any known issues we should watch out for?

general feedback on the machine would be great!!!

Thank you.

Search the forum posts for "C4080" - you'll find lots already posted about the machine.
We received the first one in the UK in late 2020 and like it very much, apart from the OEM RIP (I've discussed this on other posts)
On the input side, ours has 1 x PF-707m vacuum fed paper deck and 1 x LU-202XLM long sheet input tray
On the output side, just the RU-518m relay unit and OT-510 stacker, we have a well equipped offline finishing room and are not fans of inline finishing tied to an engine

our other machines run fiery's on both but this one comes with Creo.
I haven't seen anything bad about Creo so i am going to give it a try and if i don't like it ill have them put a fiery on it.

on the LU-202XLM can you run 90gsm over 19 inches?

i run a job every month that is about 5000 sheets duplex on 90gsm and paper size is 11 x 25.5
according to the specs anything over 19 inches need to be 128gsm or more so will it still run it?

Yes. See specifications below. Not sure where you're getting the requirement of 128gsm from. Can you post what you're looking at?
if you follow @Ynot_UK link you will see it under Paper Weight.

I believe @azehnali is correct...their brochures and spec sheets don't include Creo controllers as an option anymore, so you may have trouble getting next-level support and updates on that. I'd want to switch to Fiery anyway just to make my production workflow more streamlined. If your servicing dealer has given the machine the green light and said they will put it on a service contract, that's great! The C4080 is built on the same frame/technology as the C3080 which was a very reliable engine for KM. I'd feel good about getting that machine.

Ah! Good catch. Yes, that appears to be saying what you described. Kinda an annoying limitation! If you're going to get the machine regardless, and still want to run that job, you can probably lie to the machine and say the media is 128gsm...but don't count on it being supported by the servicing dealer when you have issues. On our C7090, we have the bypass banner tray on top of the paper deck and have ran quite a bit of banner-size jobs...but it's always on 100# gloss text or 100# gloss cover.
(I'll remove my previous post since I was incorrect)

I had the same concerns on the Creo but the dealer told me Konica signed an exclusive contract with Creo in 2023 and they are still supported for the foreseeable future and in fact there is a update that was released 2 months ago that they will be updating the system to if we get it.
There is still a good chance ill be switching over to Fiery to keep everything streamlined.

anyone willing to share there cost per click on there machines for there service contract?

Geeze...that is a long train of accessories!! I built your machine using their online configurator just for fun. I'd hate to clear a jam on that! But looks like you can make just about anything with it! Congrats! Was that a demo room machine?

No it was not a demo machine, the company bought it for about $212k New from a dealer then the company went under 6 months later.... we had to jump though a bunch of hoops over the last week to make sure it was free and clear from there finance company and make sure no one had a lean on it...

Edit:
we got the machine from the owner of the building and not the owner of the business... he skipped town when the business flopped and the owner of the building got ownership of it though the courts for money owed to him for back rent and it sounded like a loan he gave him.

@jwheeler as an aside, I've sometimes wondered how the console GUI shows these super-long configurations - you could make it longer still by replacing the MB-508 with another 2xPF-707m decks! Does it show a tiny image or split it in two ?

The 6272P can get even longer because it can have all of those accessories, and the 3 paper decks, plus it's two engines side by side (each engine prints only 1 side of the sheet, so it prints duplex twice as fast). The image on the touch screen just gets scaled down to fit.
