the epson is usually much more stable than that. are your inks out of date? are you using good (consistent) media? is the enviroment the printer is in stable (temperature and humidity) edwin

I second Ians view and the Efi rip can run on mac and windows with the same look and feel so you can switch easily Edwin

if your familiar and happy with the epson the new epsonss are very good, reliable and stable you can probably get a trade in from your local dealer for the old kit make sure you cost in the rip colour management upgrade edwin

Rather than print lots of test images you might consider creating (or asking for?) icc profiles for each machine then comparing a whole range of images using the profiles in say photoshop - you would neeed a calibrated monitor this is the chart I would use for creating profiles using an isis...

I have used the free pdf altona download as a test chart from eci.org it has vector/raster and does test the whole of your workflow from pdf file - print plus a 'fogra style' test strip to verify to standard suitable for your measurement hardware and software Edwin
