    Printing Solid Blacks

Hi Magnus, Yes, Prepress has tried this for us as well as using four color black. Cyan alone still shows defects sometimes.

    Printing Solid Blacks

I wanted to see if I could get some advice here. Our designers are starting to design pages in our magazines that are full bleed solid black. Running on a 38" heat set web we have problems keeping these solid black pages hickey and spot free. We've adjusted tack levels of our black ink, run at...

    Evolution of Color Proofs

Thanks! Putting the manufacturers name in the Google search did pull up some better results than what I was finding earlier. Still not pulling up any videos and I'm hopeful that someone somewhere will pull something out of their archives...

    Evolution of Color Proofs

Likewise. I thought it would be easy to find content online but seeing how the majority of these proofing systems died long before YouTube was born it seems like an impossible task to find anything that shows how we used to make proofs. I did reach out to Frank and I'll let you know what he says.

    Evolution of Color Proofs

Thanks Gordo. I do have book cases full of graphic arts books and I can't find anything either. My online searches are coming up empty as well apart from one video of someone making a Colorart. Got your PM, thanks! I'll check with Frank and see what he has.

    Evolution of Color Proofs

Thanks for the replies everyone! I also started working with film and making proofs when I was 16 - making bluelines and color keys and yes, I remember the pain of screwing up the last color down and having to start all over. I'm finding it impossible to find any photos or videos of these...

    Evolution of Color Proofs

Hi All, I'm trying to put together a presentation for my staff of earlier proofing systems and I'm looking for any pics or videos of "historical" proofing systems - Chromalin, Colorart, Final Proof, Match Print, Color Keys, etc. Does anybody have anything they can share? Or links to videos...

    Paper Gloss Levels

Yes, I pretty much came to the same conclusion. Haven't been able to find anything online which gives any sort of a standard or guideline. Seems like mills have their own percentages that they follow. I've reached out to our mill rep to get the listing from them. Thanks for responding!

    Fuji JPress 540W and XMF

We just installed a Fuji JPress 540W ink jet press and so far we are very happy with it. There is however an annoyance we found whereby the print quantity in XMF is limited to 10,000 copies and so far Fuji has not been able to resolve this. Anybody have a fix for this?

They are both in very good condition, about six years old and can be crated up and ready to ship within a few days of purchase. Attached are some photos. If anyone...

    Standards for the Pressroom

Hello, I am currently doing a top to bottom review of my pressroom efficiency and wanted to see if anyone had information as to what the industry standards are for make ready times on both a sheetfed (we currently run a 5 color + coater XL 105 and a heatset web (6 color). Both presses have...
