well, I've run the files through several different methods of conversion, Pitstop, Prinergy, etc. and they came out different. But when I opened each image in Photoshop and converted they stayed the same.

I should have probably mentioned that the files are pdfs, we rarely get native files any more, I have to open each image in Photoshop, convert and save back to the pdf. While this works it takes a bit of time when there are a lot of images to convert

I've always assumed the reason that "Registration" doesn't change when ripping is because it is not a color but rather an instruction to be 100% of all colors. Then the only way to change it is to use PitStop to change all "Registration" to black Globally or do it manually one by one.

Well, this problem isn't limited to CS3, it is apparently an issue with InDesign in general. I can always find a workaround, but I am very curious why this problem happens. Why would images change pages and positions.
