If you're using a Mac, you can right click and use the Rename feature to accomplish what you are looking to do. On a PC, I have used the Microsoft PowerRename (PowerToys) utility for batch renaming files.
I don't recall the exact procedure for rebalancing the lasers, but somewhere in the software you can plug in numbers to increase or decrease the laser intensity for each. There are 64 lasers in all that can be adjusted. Hopefully you have found a service manual that can help you with this.

In the .ai file, I converted "black (copy)" to grayscale color mode, saved it, opened the .eps file and updated the link. This seemed to keep the black as just black.
Paper does have a different finish from side to side. My experience running a KM C1060 was that uncoated, textured stock was difficult to get the toner to lay down nicely and fill the texture of the paper. The newer machines have a softer transfer belt that helps with this issue.
