    Measurement of matte/gloss laminated patches

Hi, Is it possible to accurately measure full tone patches that are matte/gloss thermal laminated? I would like to get relevant CIE Lab values after measurement, but I'm not sure how the devices such as (SpectroDens - TECHKON) measure laminated colours (inks) in terms of physics, refractive...

    Printing on vinyl

I've checked out what they offer. Seems quite interesting especially with the "stink free" part. Would like to try it, although I doubt they sell in EU.

    Printing on vinyl

Bob, thank you for answering. 1) The proper ink was used. I've posted a link with inks specification and requirements that need to be met before and during printing according to ink producer. 2) We are using isopropyl alcohol on our presses. During this job, we had 12% in dampening solution...

    Printing on vinyl

We did rewind the stock every 2-3 hours after printing. We even spread it out through the warehouse. :) However, these kind of silly methods make me think we're still in stone age. I just want my stock dryed after 48 hours, since we did everything according to specifications.

    Printing on vinyl

How do you people deal with drying on vinyl material in sheetfed offset? Chemistry is set to match the material and ink specifications, also fast drying inks are used. Small stacks are used during printing, climate within the production room is fine. Actually, everything seems to be fine...

    UV coating problem

uvdan, Sirmag, Thanks for your reply. Today, we finally creased and handfolded the leaflet, and it came out better then we thought it will. Since the leaflet is designed to fold on the UV coated parts, on those parts UV coating slightly peeled off. However, the complete product looks...

    UV coating problem

Actually, we didn't. The amount of powder, was like for every other job. Today we varnished the stock once again (since the first time, offset varnish wasn't thick enough - the layer was just to weak), and UV varnish seems to be much better. Still, it isn't as it used to be, it keeps peeling...

    UV coating problem

Albnn011, Rhino, Thank you on the offer. Since we are located in Europe, and already have a great supplier, I'll have to find another solution.

    UV coating problem

Hi there! Yesterday, we had an interesting problem. We are in process of making a simple folded leaflet. The stock was printed on 135 g/m2 matte coated paper, 4/4 job, including standard matte offset varnish 1/1, applied in a very thin layer. The stock later went on partial UV coating, where...

    Quota & accuracy

Hi Morning Flight, The avarage speed of 8000 sheets/hour is mentioned as an example. However It's true that we use it most oftenly for basic, 4/0, 4/4 jobs. When pantone is used, the avarage is slower, because ink mixing and longer job preparation is used. Jobs that are printed 1/1 are, on the...

    Quota & accuracy

Hi, I'm working in a mid-sized sheetfed printshop. We run in 3 shifts constantly, but still trying to reach the full potential in press and postpress with our employees. Every part of the production process has quota, but sometimes, for example, it's hard to norm the handwork in postpress with...

    lpi & offset printing

Actually, at the moment we are using 170 lpi for all of our jobs; including coated, uncoated 90 - 350 g/m2 papers, conqueror papers etc. So I was wondering if the smaller LPI (<170) value for uncoated papes would make better results, as well would the higher LPI (>170) value make better results...

    lpi & offset printing

Hi all, I'm working in a mid-sized sheetfed offset printing house. In prepress we use CtP, pdf-preps-prinergy rip workflow. Since I haven't found anywhere on the forum I had to start a new thread for this one. :) I would like to now which LPI are you using for different kinds of paper. Do you...
