Good ol Franklin! We still use it, on a Mac running Parallels. All the press info was baked into it before I started here 20+ years ago. For digital, we apply math into an Additional Operation. It works well for us - but yes, very very old.
You can buy decent-isn Windows-based PC/laptops for under $1,000. When the time comes, I'm thinking about just having a separate machine for Windows. We've been very lucky to have Parallels on a 2011 iMac for such a long time. But the clock is ticking on when this thing will crap out on me.
We've had the exact same trouble. On our old Ricoh C901, it was a frequent problem, and our technician DID suggest using one fuser for large stock and another for smaller stock. Those fusers were so heavy, this solution didn't last long AT ALL. So, we just called the tech when it became a...

Price shows $4,400 via a different website.

Success! Once you push the label through into the machine, it goes a little then eventually hits a barrier. You have to continue applying pressure towards that barrier for it to pickup the label. At least, that's how I got it to work anyway.
I bought the Epson C6500A (in part because of the glowing review from that Youtube page above). After setting it up last night, I spent about 2 hours trying to load a roll of paper into the machine with zero success. When you slide the front of the roll in, the machine is supposed to detect it...
Even window envelopes? If yes, do you buy special ones for use on a digital press? We are considering the 7100, so I presume the envelope capability will be available there as well.
We run plenty of NCR jobs through our Ricoh C901. For high quantity NCR and envelopes of any kind, we use a QM or SM-52 for those. Good luck in your search!
The cartoon is silly, and on point. I don't know anything about the woman in the video.
I copied the info below from the CDC website. Seems pretty straightforward to me.
Wear masks in public settings when around people not living in your household and particularly where other social...
