Ricoh 7200 paper catalog setup trouble

Hello,
We just purchased one of the Ricoh 7200 after hearing so many good things on it and right off the bat we started having issues with image placement and registration on the sheet. They have narrowed it down to our paper catalog that evidently did not transfer properly from an older machine so the paper catalog was removed and a generic ricoh paper catalog was installed. Then we were told for each paper we run we will have to go though the manual image placement to get the image placement and registration lined up. The auto adjustment gets close on some papers but is way off on others some papers are taking us close to an hour to set up and with 60 or so papers we use this is going to be a nightmare.

Anyone else have a 7200 that had to go though this process? Is there a simpler way to get this accomplished? if not any suggestions on how to make this process faster?

Thanks
Chris

Nope, even when I get a new paper in all I do is enter it in to the paper catalog and scan its values in and throw it in the tray and roll. Some papers like an 80# text gloss I ran on Friday I had to tweak a few settings to get it to feed better from the vacuum trays but registration has not been an issue with my 7110's or the 7200.

The auto image position (31 sheets) is annoying when first setting up a paper, but after that it's usually spot on. We like it.

If even after using the auto-adjustment feature you're still having issues I've seen it happen where the techs might need to baseline the registration system itself. If they're not sure how there are tech bulletins, and other techs with more experience who they can escalate to. You might also ask your sales rep or SE (the person who trained you) to run interference for you. If the machine was purchased through a dealer then take it up with that sales rep or owner of the dealership.

I got the 7210X for a month. I have the exact same problem with the registration as well. I had to go through the manual adjustment process after the 31 sheets auto adjustment process to make it spot on. Honestly, I believe those who claim their registration is spot on without any adjustment might be running only a few paper type or not too picky. For us, we had to create and profile 30+ paper types/size so far and I had to adjust every one of them. SO yes, it's a pain in the ass but once I have adjusted, it seems to be consistent and not shifting much at all.
Btw, we went through this exercise with all vendors, xerox, canon, konica, ricoh. None of them had perfect registration without some fine tuning for each paper type and size.

Maybe the OG is like me.. what acceptable to some is not acceptable to us. I did have the Tech come back and do the baseline. And even the tech said oh that looks acceptable and u have to accept the .1mm differences. things like that. I did not take that and did my own adjustment afterward to make sure the front/back registration is spot on. However, I still have one issue where the front registration is not "dead center" yet meaning, the margins from each side are not 100% the same. But at least the back is matching up with the front so I accept that for now and not fighting that battle at this moment.

So I feel your pain and I wish someone has a magic wand with shortcuts but the tech has to go through the same things to adjust anyway so I don't see any shortcuts.

We have about 15 papers we use, I was able to carry over the paper catalog from the 7110sx I had and only had to make minor changes to the paper. I run tight margin stuff like half folded cards where it needs to be registered exact on both sides to match for folding. We had a ricoh color specialist come after the 7200 was installed and helped us go through our paper and only few needed to be run through the auto registration feature, we had done a lot of work on registration on the 7110 and it looks like all that carried over to the 7200 which we were happy about.
