I'd guess maybe it's a transparency issue and the file is being flattened (rasterised) and then scaled, instead of the other way round.

Yeah for contone images, 300dpi is ideal, but for vector that has to be rasterised I'd use what ever resolution you're printing it at. 300dpi will give rough edges on text.

I'd guess u have the 4pp sec numbered as 1-4 and the 8pp sec 1-8, instead of treating it as a 12pp sec which will give u a 4pp wrapping around an 8. ie numbered 1-12.

afaik the toner/transfer belt/waste toner bottle are all the same for the Ilumina and the Oki C96xx & C98xx series. As for drums, the oki 96xx/98xx ones should work but require some tweaking to fit the toner cartridges into them (just filing off the little black notches that match the cartridge)...

I know the C9650 will do envelopes without any problems, which is what the Ilumina is based on, now if only you could buy an after market HCF for it, other wise your stuck feeding about 40 at a time.

Our RIP sets white to knock out aswell, unfortunately if that white has even .01% colour in it, it ignores it. Cought me out a few times it has.

If your printing from raw acrobat files (with no preflight) I'd hazard a guess it's white text set to overprint. Maybe try printing as an Image from Acrobat so the rip on the laser printer wont have to rasterize the pdf.
