    KM8000 Dot overspray issue

I've had the same issue on a KM6000. I found changing the density on the machine helped remove the overspray issue. Got into Utility -> Administrator Settings -> System -> Expert Adjustment -> Process Adjustment -> Maximum Density Adjustment and change the density. I found increasing only the...

    Toning on Sheet

It sounds like the drum is worn, if you look under a loupe you should be able to see what colour drum is worn and replace it A cheaper alternative is, goto the Menu > System Adjust > BG Setting and try change it to -3. That seems to reduce the charge on the drum which in turn causes less noise...

    TRAP problems

The font may look too thin after trapping, but remember that the Pantone 7519 will cover it all up. In my experience it's fine, it's a brown going down onto a light blue the overlap will not be noticed. If you feel it's trapping too much to it, try change the setting in the Trap Panel, under the...

Fiery:Ripping vectors pixelated from .eps (help)

I'd guess maybe it's a transparency issue and the file is being flattened (rasterised) and then scaled, instead of the other way round.

    Trap issue

I'm not familiar with that RIP, but outlined text & regular text trap differentially. Try using text that's not outlined and see if you have the same problem. Also look for a trapping option on your RIP about bitmaps trapping into artwork. Or if there's a small text size limit, which will reduce...

Rendering to bitmap instead of keeping vectors and fonts: noticable?

Yeah for contone images, 300dpi is ideal, but for vector that has to be rasterised I'd use what ever resolution you're printing it at. 300dpi will give rough edges on text.

Rendering to bitmap instead of keeping vectors and fonts: noticable?

Yes it would be unnoticeable, as I said the only slight visual difference is a slightly bolder type, you would only notice if you had a side by side comparison. That's once your tiff is the same dpi as the output resolution. Just remember, what ever the workflow, in the end it's a high res...

Rendering to bitmap instead of keeping vectors and fonts: noticable?

Rasterizing text always leads to problems, if the file is going to be printed at 1200dpi then you need your tiff as 1200dpi, which can lead to a very large file size and longer processing time on the rip. The text will look different than the unrasterized version, they always seem bolder, just...

44pp Saddle Stitched Book - Creep

Are you sure your not selecting more signatures than needed? Or that if you open up the signature in Preps you do have the correct page numbers assigned. I know in preps when u add signatures, it will tell you what the next page in the next signature will be. For saddle stitch it will be page...

    Crop Mark Offset

I prefer having the crop marks slightly inside the bleed. When I impose it and preps adds the crop marks I can then see the overlap of both Preps and the pdf crop marks so I know the size is correct. Also I guess if you imposing and the imposition software can't add crop marks, you stuck having...

44pp Saddle Stitched Book - Creep

I'd guess u have the 4pp sec numbered as 1-4 and the 8pp sec 1-8, instead of treating it as a 12pp sec which will give u a 4pp wrapping around an 8. ie numbered 1-12.

Xante Fuser "Help Save Me Money"

afaik the toner/transfer belt/waste toner bottle are all the same for the Ilumina and the Oki C96xx & C98xx series. As for drums, the oki 96xx/98xx ones should work but require some tweaking to fit the toner cartridges into them (just filing off the little black notches that match the cartridge)...

Xante Answers Questions about Digital Envelope Press

I know the C9650 will do envelopes without any problems, which is what the Ilumina is based on, now if only you could buy an after market HCF for it, other wise your stuck feeding about 40 at a time.

    Text Dropped out????

Our RIP sets white to knock out aswell, unfortunately if that white has even .01% colour in it, it ignores it. Cought me out a few times it has.

    Text Dropped out????

If your printing from raw acrobat files (with no preflight) I'd hazard a guess it's white text set to overprint. Maybe try printing as an Image from Acrobat so the rip on the laser printer wont have to rasterize the pdf.

    Back lit Canvas?

I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with back lighting Canvas. I'm planning on stretching some canvas onto a frame and wondering if it's possible to back light it. Or if there's a more flexible back lit film available. I have tried some heavy weight canvas and the print looks washed out...

Any Oki data C9800 owners here?

I've gotten 400gsm Sky Uncoated through it no problem, and it was a pretty bulky board. The only issue I had was the registration on the end of the sheet. But because you dont have to pay a click charge, you can just run a smaller sheet through it for a tighter registration. I'm curious to know...

Any Oki data C9800 owners here?

The drums are rated for 30,000 A4 prints so the counter will go down accordingly. Unlike the toner, which is based on coverage. But I doubt you could get the full 30,000 from the drums, depending on the stock your running and what your printing, you may need to replace the drums to keep good...

Any Oki data C9800 owners here?

I think compatible toner has come along way and should be on par with the genuine ones. From what I have seen, there's 2 types of toner for the Oki 9xxx range, a glossy (like the original) and a dull matt one. The glossy one is the same make up as Oki's and more uniform, unlike the matt one...

Low end vs High end (Visual Difference)

Well this is my first post. I'm just looking to get experienced opinions from long term users of Digital Presses. My main question is regarding quality, It's easy to read the promotional info from all the main competitors, but what I'd like to know is, is there a major difference between the...
