The problem was the the page dimensions kept changing due to the moisture in the sir. So, Carrier solved the problem by pulling moisture out of the air using a series of copper coils with water. As a byproduct. It also cooled the surrounding air and workers in print, as well as other industries, preferred working in the cooler environment.
