    Fiery Command Workstation 5.5

PDF versions of the manuals are usually supplied on a CD with the installation kit. Otherwise take a look at the EFI website: there's a lot of information available for download, but sometimes it takes a bit of finding.

I need help please, I need to choose between Xerox C75 and Konica Minolta C1070

You will need to find out about service/support in your area. This is critical; ideally speak to other customers to check that the performance lives up to the promise. Then you need to take files and samples of your stock (plenty, not just one or two sheets) to the vendors' demo locations and...

    Ricoh vs KM vs Xerox

I can only say what has been said many times before: that the main consideration with a machine like this is the availability and quality of service. In hardware terms, I'm sure each one is capable of doing the job, and I wouldn't get to hung up about paper paths, roller sizes, etc. We get...

    Pantone 17-1463 Tangerine Tango

If you look at the link that Santa provided, you will see a further link to Pantone's official 2012 colour of the year page. This provides all the cross-reference colour data, including the fact that the nearest solid colour is Pantone 7625C, which you can look up in the appropriate book to find...

    KM C8000 color gradient

Ignore the above comments; the file is fine. PitStop tells me that the image is CMYK and 300dpi at print size. I have output the file on our C8000/Fiery both by printing to the hold queue and using the standard Fiery RIP and also by dropping the file into hold and using the APPE option...

konica c 6000 problems with 90 gsm gloss art paper

We regularly run jobs on 100gsm silk on our C8000 without any problems. I wouldn't consider 90gsm, even if it was available in the right grades: the stock we use as standard only goes down to 100gsm, some ranges don't go below 115gsm.

    Continual Problems with Konica C8000

...and make sure that the colour sensors below the drums are not covered in waste toner. That can cause some really odd colour problems.

    Intec Digital Printing Solutions

I don't have an Intec printer, but I have been to their UK head office for a thorough demo. It is still something that we might consider for envelopes, although I decided to wait and see how the new Memjet based printers from others worked out. I was impressed with the kit and the company. The...

Newbie needs help with a ton of questions.

The answers are likely to be pretty much the same as when you started a similar thread a couple of weeks ago. Good quality on 300gsm card is not something that small desktop printers do well. The entry level, as suggested before, is likely to be one of the high-end OKI machines. You can probably...

    Another Recommendation Question

As has been said many times on here, the number one issue is support in your part of the world. We get excellent support from KM (direct, not a dealer) and it was a very important factor when deciding what should replace our KM6500 last year. We looked at the 7000, but a great deal on an 8000...

Maybe the most strange comparison KM7000 vs Canon 6010

I did just that comparison a year ago, although I was looking at the Oce version of the Canon, the 6010S. We were replacing a KM6500. My view was that the Canon came out just ahead. However, that was to a large degree because I liked the Oce workflow where the job queue and RIP are closely...

A3 LASER PRINTER onto 350gsm CARD..??? Any suggestions for a start-up design studio?

Talk to a local digital printer. You may well find it cheaper and easier to get the jobs printed for you, rather than doing it yourself. Even if you can find something lower than £4000, perhaps an OKI, then the consumable prices are probably going to come as a shock.

    Single queue for multiple machines

I believe that KM, at least in Europe, have a software suite called PrintGroove. I seem to recall that one of the modules is intended to handle queues for multiple print engines.

Rip problems with Konica Minolta Bizhub Pro c5501 with Fiery ic408 controller

It was our experience with a Fiery driven KM6500 that tray selection "Auto" was not a good idea. Even with all the parameters set correctly, "Auto" more often than not generated a paper mismatch error. The real answer is to use the Fiery's Paper Catalog.

Difference between KM C6000 and C7000?

As I understand it, the differences are commercial rather than technical. The print engines are the same, but the 6000's is speed limited. The 7000 has more options available for finishing etc. Sorry, no experience with the IC-601.

Digita Machine that can do 16pt?

I'm not exactly sure what 16pt is, but a conversion chart tells me it is around 340gsm. On our old KM6500 we used to run a lot of 300gsm silk, mostly simplex, but also duplex (officially out of spec). We would also run 350gsm silk simplex. With the out of spec stock we didn't find jams to be a...

Help!! Which one to go with!

The 5501 is a 6501 with reduced speed and limited options. We successfully used a 6500 for light production for 5 years, until we upgraded to an 8000. Whilst the 5501 is not from the latest generation (effectively replaced by 6000L), it could be a good buy if the fit is right. If you are set on...
