    5th color station weigh-in

For those that have the 5th color on the Ricoh, do you find the cost of the toner to be problem? It seems pretty expensive but I don't know how it translates to real world cost for prints.

    New KM AccurioPress

I'd look closer at the registration of the V2100. We have two and the registration problems have been the biggest problem with the machine. Yes it's got the FWA that will create an alignment profile but we have to run that every time we use a paper, even multiple times a day for the same paper...

    Hot Glue Perfect binding

Are the prints off the same machine as you have always used? Not all glue will stick to everything. The digiglue we normally use won't stick well to toner. They have an iglue that is supposed to stick to more challenging stuff.

    Versant 2100 Mixed Media Speed...

The setting is deep in the menu's in a bit of an odd place. Log in as admin Hit the physical tools button Go to tool on the touch screen Then maintenance Then scroll down 4 screens There you will see productivity mode There are 3 options. Optimize for image quality, Optimize for speed, Optimize...

    Versant 2100 Mixed Media Speed...

Look in the settings on the touch screen. Log in as an admin. I don't remember what it is called. Maybe productivity mode. There is something like a speed or quality priority. One changes the temp of the fuser to what it should be for each paper and the other just runs everything on the hotter...

    Mailing addresser

At those quantities you are almost certainly better off printing them digital and just address on press.

What finishing equipment do you have?

Forget the laminator and vinyl cutter. That type of stuff is a whole different business and if you want to be in that part of the business you will need a large format printer too. Wait until you get the print stuff down then add the large format/sign stuff. Or possibly start with the large...

If you are just addressing postcards fusion pro is perfect for almost any quantity. We use it for all our mailings. Usually a couple hundred thousand pieces a week ranging from jobs of a few hundred to jobs of 100,000. If you are starting with PDF files and overlaying addresses there isn't...

    B&W Machine suggestions

Craig, Have you tried turning off some of the paper sensors? I have other Ricohs and that seems to help on those. Turning off skew detection helps the most for us.

    B&W Machine suggestions

I'd say leave it on your color machine. The quantity and type of paper you need to use can't justify most machines. Most black and white machines don't do well with that type of paper which leaves you with an expensive one that is going to cost you more than you would save in click charges...

Pause Option in Fiery Command Workstation on Fiery FS100 for Xerox J75

I actually just remembered when we had a creo that had a resume option for canceled jobs. I remember it being helpful when we had to stop a variable data job and restart it.

    Square back booklets

Nope. The only thing you do different is have the book go though the square fold unit as the last step. You can completely finish a run of booklets and then decide you wanted them square folded and just hand feed them though the square folder.

Can a postcard printing business be created just from web services?

So basically you want to create the front end customer experience and pass the final art to an existing printer for printing and fulfillment. Absolutely doable if you can do the software side. All you need is a printer that is willing to work with you on this. PM me if you want to discuss what...

Pause Option in Fiery Command Workstation on Fiery FS100 for Xerox J75

A pen and a piece of paper seem simple enough. Or when you cancel the job at the end of the night update the quantity in the job properties so it's already to go the next day. Or you can buy a power filter and get another couple hours of running everyday after you leave.

    Square back booklets

No. The process is stitch, fold, face trim, then square fold. So we face trim before square folding but it can be done after. The square fold doesn't have any effect on the trim. It's really just an extra step that gets done to finished booklets that flattens the spine.

    Square back booklets

I've only ever done a single crease. It's not working quite like you think. It's not folding it in 2 spots. It is the last step of the process. It gets made just like normal first. Single fold on the crease. The square folder doesn't actually fold anything. It just clamps the book and applies...

    Square back booklets

We usually do if they are cover weight and have toner on the fold. It folds first like normal than the square fold is the last step. So if it is going to crack without the square fold it will still crack with it.
