Hot Glue Perfect binding

We have a digibinder and it has worked well for several years. We are now having a problem with the books staying together. Does glue get to old? Is there different glue for different papers? Run it hotter/colder? Any help would be welcome. The book is 8 x 8 about 200 sheets.

Are the prints off the same machine as you have always used? Not all glue will stick to everything. The digiglue we normally use won't stick well to toner. They have an iglue that is supposed to stick to more challenging stuff.

That's the thing. It was C1S cover with no printing on the inside and the pages had no toner at all near the bind, it was mostly text. One thing I noticed is the glue seemed very brittle. If the "rasp" was deeper and we use more than normal amount of glue, does that make it worse when trying to open the book. It fell apart when we opened the books.
