Top Quality Printing - how is done?

What good is your ink if your pre-press worker messes up the original photograph's colors using the wrong ICC profile?

    Editing raw profile data

Are you familiar with the data encoding of the CLUT data? If not, I don't think a spreadsheet software would be of any help to you. To edit a profile you need a graphical visualization of the table. The data is not encoded in an intuitive way that permits easy changes.

If you don't make mistakes, you don't make anything

That was a great post. Concise and well put. You remind me of a previous working place - the CEO was very hard on the employees when it came to mistakes (even first ones). There was lots of anger, sometimes shouting and even humiliation. As a consequence, the machine operators were actually...

Need to print large book covers

The Indigo WS6000 can print 100cm, on paper (web fed - rolls only). If you need to print double-sided it's a bit difficult, but possible, on machines that have a reinsertion module installed.

    RGB to CMYKOVG Profile Conversion

Photoshop CS6 has a conversion to multichannel profiles built in, via the "Convert to Profile" menu.

I need helpr to decide, Buzhub -8000, Ricoh, cannon, zerox

Yes, the toner particles in indigo are indeed small, and they create sharp images. I never said Indigo doesn't produce good results - on the contrary. I'm simply rebutting some claims you made. In regards to paper, I finished my Indigo operation streak about 5 months ago. I last operated a...

I need helpr to decide, Buzhub -8000, Ricoh, cannon, zerox

gregseay, I love it how sales reps everywhere say the exact same textbook stuff to sell their machines. A lot of weasel words for the untrained. Just to counter some of the things you wrote, not because I'm evil, but because I was an Indigo operator for 7 years and want the OP to hear the truth...

    Color Math for Android

Yes, apparently since it's a brand new app, Google doesn't prioritize it in search queries. You can find it by surrounding your search text with double quotation marks. Hopefully, when it gets downloaded enough times, it'll show up higher in the search. Thanks!

    Color Math for Android

Thanks, Morgan! Do you mean, when the "Input Lab" dialog appears, and you click on a text field to enter the number, the keyboard that appears is not a numeric keypad? If so, that's a bit strange, since it works fine on my Samsung phone. Perhaps it's a phone-specific hack that I need to do...

    Color Math for Android

Sorry gordo, no. I've been involved in iOS development before, and it turned many hairs of mine to grayscale. Plus, I don't have the hardware needed to support modern iOS versions.

    Color Math for Android

Hi everyone, Just a small announcement - I've made a free utility application for the Android OS, called Color Math. It's a color conversion and difference (delta-E) calculator, including on-screen display of the compared colors. It's pretty basic at the moment, but I'm eager to improve it and...

Variable data software for HP IndigoWS6000 web press

You're right, Steve, the field is indeed very narrow. But I believe part of the problem lies in HP's Esko Artwork DFE, which in my experience is absolutely horrendous. Their DeskPack "variable data" software is useless compared to competing software. My biggest grip with HP is that you must use...

Losing mid-tone detail after black removal

I'm using Argyll CMS (http://www.argyllcms.com) to generate my profiles. I tried to generate a CMY profile, but Adobe's software didn't list it as a CMYK output profile (or list it at all, for that matter). I'm thinking of contacting the CMS author to see whether it's possible to do this...

Losing mid-tone detail after black removal

@Stephan, thank you for your post. I will try to apply some of the methods you suggested. The reason I use the color management way instead of manual work is mainly because I need control over ink limit. For this test I was able to get away with 300% but perhaps in the future I'll have to go...

Losing mid-tone detail after black removal

Hello everyone, I'm trying to remove the black channel from an image, for a special project which requires printing only in CMY. In Photoshop, under "Convert to Profile", I used the "Custom CMYK" profile: I measured with a spectro my HP Indigo's primaries and overprints, set the dot gain curves...

    MGI vs Indigo

"people with half information"... You seem to supply half information yourself. I'll comment on some of your statements. Not to argue pointlessly with a salesman, of course, but for the gentleman who opened this thread. For the record, I have been an Indigo press operator for 5 years: 1. False...
