I have calibrated our waterless DI press many times, we don't use profiles. I can get iso12647 very easily now, what measurement devices/software are you using? What press is it? All I do now is to linearise the press so 50% prints at 50% etc then I can throw any curve set at it I.e. Iso12647...

    Help gatering makeready data, please

Most times, our jobs will start up at below 0.1d variance, our running tolerance is 0.09d and most of the time I am running at or below 0.05d variance. I can normally run 15 sheets to settle the blankets etc and run on from there. It's a waterless DI press which also helps as there is no water...

    Help gatering makeready data, please

I run a 52cm DI waterless press and can normally hit colour to ISO standard in 100-200 sheets, normal makeready is 50 sheets and fine tune on the fly.

    Presstek 34DI Solid coverage

Yes, all the above plus, Calibrate at your usual running speed. I.e. Don't calibrate at 6000 and run at 8500, the difference is noticeable but not severe. Dave

    Presstek 34DI Solid coverage

Yes, sounds like a recalibration is in order. We have run a 34 but now have a 52di but the process is the same. For maximum accuracy, when scanning the cal test patches, do not scan them on the PDSE unit but read them one patch at a time, the difference is amazing. We have improved further by...

    I/R Temp Control...

Well it's working, not finished but working and I'm impressed so far. It starts off at about 90% power and ramps down as the run progresses, generally to about 50% power on art paper. If we use the air-smoother, this tends to blow warm air and the added heat input makes the drier ramp even...

    I/R Temp Control...

In some ways, luckily the machine is software controlled, i think it may be possible to alter but will need to have a chat with a friendly engineer next time they visit. I went into print 32 years ago, mainly because i like machines and mechanical things and have a very inquiring mind. Over the...

    I/R Temp Control...

Hi Turbotom, Im afraid its only 4 years old, and is designed for short to medium run work! I won't name the model here though as its not relevant. I am currently building the unit so i only have the data from the handheld tests i performed. Using it exactly as you say - almost full on then...

    I/R Temp Control...

Hi, it's a Ryobi and no pre-heat option. I know it's not totally required but I haven't done any R&D for some time now and I'm getting itchy fingers :) As I'm the operator, I see a need for something, then find a way to fill that need, it's very satisfying when you can pull most of it out of...

    I/R Temp Control...

Ok, Sensor cleanliness should not be a problem, it has it's own clean-air purge ring around its lens. Lamps are halogen. What we find by doing it manually is that the first 500-1000 of the run is under heated as the system has not warmed up, so we whack the heat up, then if it's forgotten...

    I/R Temp Control...

Hi all, this may already be in existance on some presses, but i dont know of any that have it. Is there any print related reason that Infrared temperature control should NOT be a closed-loop system. I.e. monitored and controlled automatically to give a preset stack/sheet temperature?? Do not...

    Presstek 34di questions

Hi the blanket sensor probably just needs recalibrating. Yes the sponge rollers do wear out, ours lasted a 18months i think, and yes the rubber will need resetting occasionally. The ink key is likely just gummed up, it will probably need stripping and servicing then maintain it with the srpay...

    PRESSTEK 34DI PROBLEMS!!!!! HELP PLEASE

Also, keep the technotrans (water chiller) outside the a/c room, this unit blows out a lot of heat and if its outside the press room it means you can run smaller a/c unit and save money.

    PRESSTEK 34DI PROBLEMS!!!!! HELP PLEASE

It is highly recommended to have a/c, even more so on the presstek 34di, the 52di is a little more stable. We have a partition room with strip pvc door and the a/c set to 21c all year long, the printer (me) loves it in the summer and the press loves it all year round. Dave

    PRESSTEK 34DI PROBLEMS!!!!! HELP PLEASE

Do you mean ink keys?? If so, try this, i run a 52DI and have had no problems in two years. Zero all the duct keys, Clean out the ink duct with blanket wash, dont just wipe it out, clean it out, it should be as clean as it was when installed. Cleanliness is evertyhing here, even more so when...

Hi all, We have a Presstek 52Di press which is performing well, it is coupled to a Harlequin Momentum Rip. I am trying to figure out if there is abetter way to perform press calibrations, this is what we do at present... Print test charts and linearise the press, this curve then goes into the...
