pMS 304 versus pMS 305 Question

I think you're right, depending on the edition and printing. I was looking at my brand new 2nd Edition 3rd Printing and latest bridge they look fine, but in earlier editions (1st 1st printing and 2nd 2nd printing, and really old solid uncoated from 2004) they are much yellower. Maybe someone...

pMS 304 versus pMS 305 Question

They're a similar hue (304 is slightly yellower), 304 is a lighter tint than 305. Why the question?

    Oris Proof Verification issues

Has this been working properly in the past? How is the printer connected to ORIS, network connection tends to work better than USB. Have you switched out the USB cord connecting the spectroproofer to the printer? If this has just started suddenly I'd check the calibration status and backing...

    is it calibrated?? Versant 2100

My assumption is that you have different calibrations associated for different weights and types. I can't remember where the settings are to for this, but I think you either would calibrate on this heavier media or associate a calibrati

The mysterious 70% tint in Photoshop

I just got the same thing in CC 2015 (16.1.1), very strange. I understand the explanation however I wonder why would Adobe choose to display 69.8 as 69 instead of 70, I'd think it would make more sense to round the numbers up or down for display instead of truncating them. This truncation leads...

    Question about G7

The CMY and K patches for 25%, 50% and 75 are not supposed to match exactly, they're close but not exactly the same. Between any two G7 systems (offset, flexo, digital...) it's only stated that you'll have a similar appearance (neutral gray balance) without any further color management applied...

G7 - Questions with the trappings

I don't have a ton of experience with the calculator so I can't tell you why the CMY, CMYK patches would be changing differently than the overprints. Looking at your numbers though I'm curious why you started with GRACoL when the paper white is closer to SWOP (CRPC5)? It's my understanding that...

Nesting on Fiery XF RIP question

If you change the virtual sheet size in the layout tab to fit the dimension that you're trying to cut at you can achieve this. If you set the size at 44"x19" then click apply in the nesting section you'll end up with 2up on a page and get 4 pages all in the same job.

help setting up Epson 9900 for matte paper

I can't seem to find the information about the switch from Photo to Matte black, I have found it in the past. The amount of ink used is really not as much as you may think for the round trip it's only around 4-5ml of ink, it's only the ink in the head that gets exchanged both blacks have their...

help setting up Epson 9900 for matte paper

I agree with Stephen if you're trying to do anything that correct color or being of the highest quality matters. If quality matters you'll also want to switch to matte black (which is already loaded in your printer but you've likely never used it). If you're just trying to get something that...

If you're talking about something for inkjet you could look for Photofab or PhotoTex. I think they both come in a few varieties for Aqueous, Solvent and Latex depending on your needs.

    Proofing Help

Better to call an EFI dealer, you'll get a quicker response. If you're happy with EFI I'm sure the most economical choice to stick with that. However if you're looking at options check out GMG and CGS-ORIS as well.

EPSON 9900 not printing past 40" cuts off printing from driver on mac

So it's only printing 40" across the 44" roll? If you haven't already reload the paper. If necessary feed out a little extra and cut the leading edge with the printer's cutter (press cut instead of pause when loading paper) to ensure a straight leading edge.

EPSON 9900 not printing past 40" cuts off printing from driver on mac

Try reloading the paper. I've seen this happen when the printer senses the wrong size when the paper is loaded. This often happens when the cut along the leading edge of the paper isn't straight. I'm assuming that you mean it cuts off at 40" width not length that would be another issue.

    Life of your Epson proofer??

The 49/79/9900 have much shorter lifespans than previous models. Most I've seen don't make it much past 3 years without needing a new head.

very specific problem from a biologist (yeah, biologist)

The spectral reflectance curve is going to be dependent on the pigments in the inks used to print the sample. I think it's very likely that the pigments in the inks are not the same as those found in the butterfly wings. The substrate will also contribute it's color to the spectral reflectance...

    Epson 9900 and borderless printing

On the printer, go to menu - maintenance - cutter adjustment I'm not sure if you'd need a positive or negative adjustment. I'm pretty sure this is what you need to adjust to fix the issue. The other possibility is media size correction, in the media settings of the output device on the RIP. I...
