    Question on screen angle

Hi, I have a 4cp label that has a PMS blue screen for the background. All four process colors touch the screened PMS color. The screen angles I use for the process work are: C: 7.5 M: 67.5 Y: 22.5 K: 37.5 My question is what angle should I use for the PMS color to avoid a moire pattern? I know...

Xrite i1io scratching inks when reading in proof profile

I did adjust the head to be higher but the i1io is actually supposed to be touching the stock according to the manual for accurate color reading. But, I may just read it without it touching since it will probably give a better result than the overlay. Thanks!

Xrite i1io scratching inks when reading in proof profile

Hi, I am trying to set up a proof profile for some silver stock and am reading in the charts with the Xrite i1IO table. The charts were printed on silver stock using my EsponWT7900 printer. I let the charts dry over night and when I use the table to scan in the charts it scratches the inks off...

    Question on Epson 7900WT Printer

Hi, I just purchased the metallic silver proofing paper for this printer and the instructions say to select "MetallicProof" as the paper type in the paper setup menu on the printer. Well... there is no option for this. I contacted Epson and they were no help. Any ideas? It says the firmware is...

Should densities be read before or after varnished is laid down?

The varnish is beindg laid in-line. I was just wondering if they should set their densities before turning the varnish station on. Sounds like most press guys set their densities with the varnish down. The densities do change before and after varnish so that's why I was asking, thanks for all...

Should densities be read before or after varnished is laid down?

Hi, I am attempting to build some proof profiles and have charts for press to run so I can read them in for color management. I am wondering if the press guys should be reading their densities before or after they lay the varnish down? The plate fingerprints done for the presses were read in...

Saving large .ai files as PDFs?

Hi, We are starting a new system and all approved files need to be saved as .pdfs out of .ai and put into the system so CSRs can preview the label. My question is: a lot of the .ai files can get pretty big and if I save as a .pdf they can sometimes end up pretty large even if I use the...

How to create a 1 bit tiff from ESKO

Hi, I am wondering if there is a way to create a 1 bit tiff from ESKO using power layout? I currently send our off-site plate maker a normalized PDF & pdfpla file. We are looking to switch to a kodak plate provider and they only take 1 bit tiffs. Thanks

    Photoshop Color Profile Question

Hi, I am kinda new at the photoshop color management part of all this. I recently made some plates from a file a customer sent. The file is a 4cp illustrator.eps file with the photoshop file embedded in there. The color did not turn out how they wanted in the background picture and they sent...

Trapping Issues In Illustrator - overprinting not saving when printing

No, because I have sent it to the rip and to two other inkjet printers just to see if it happened then too. All printers are showing the overprints knocked out so it must be in the file somewhere.

Trapping Issues In Illustrator - overprinting not saving when printing

Hi all - I am having a very frustrating issue with overprints. I have to trap my files in illustrator, so I basically do this by applying strokes to elements and overprint the stroke. I am working on a file and printed it with separations but all of the overprint effects are knocking out when I...

Confused about getting Acrobat to compress PDFs

Hey there, I have a job that has 48 individual illustrator files. The customer wants PDF proofs, so the easiest way I see to make them from individual files is to open acrobat go to file - combine files and make PDFs from that. I always check the smaller file size option when doing this to make...

    Quark center coordinates

Hi, I have a couple of jobs done in Quark and I need them to be centered in a few different page sizes. I do not use Quark that often and am wondering what the easiest way to figure out the center coordinates in the pages. It looks like Quark marks the X and Y coordinates with the upper left...

    Riddle Me This--No trapping

Re: Riddle Me This--No trapping Why don't you just do the trapping in the application and then send it over? Sound like if it is a two color job it could be easy enough?
