    1000I Gold and Silver Ink

Ouch. They must be using real gold and silver flakes as pigments.

Downsizing from and Igen 4 to KM 1100 Ricoh 9110??

MUCH more stable. We used to have to calibrate the 6000 two times a day - Once in the morning and again after lunch. (Sometimes even in between jobs). We calibrate the 1000 once a day in the morning. Xerox claims even once a day is overkill - they say every 2 or 3 days is fine, but I feel...

    Xerox 1000i installed!

The Versant's toner has quite a bit more of a matte finish than the 1000's. (I've heard rumors of the 1000's having matte dry ink in Japan and Aus, but not in the US).

    Xerox 1000i installed!

We use the handheld spectro with our 1000's. We were told right off the bat by a couple techs that we probably wouldn't be happy with the full width array calibration due to a few color critical customers. However, the array is great for the automatic front to back registration and fixing...

Downsizing from and Igen 4 to KM 1100 Ricoh 9110??

We used to have a Canon 6000VP - I always liked it. It was a good solid machine for us & we had good techs. Service was a little thin for a while (not enough techs in our area) and it took a while to get service in the building, but they fixed that. We had MUCH more success with Canon then we...

    Acrobat DC update today...

The question is should it, or do the all-knowing software engineers at Adobe think it should? I don't think it should, but it does because Adobe knows best :) I have no use for that silly screen at all. All the other programs in the suite start with a welcome screen, and all of them have a...

    Acrobat DC update today...

Hallelujah. Now I'm going to need to retrain my hand to not hit Command-W twice.

I have fought the good fight....

Make sure you're submitting bug/feature requests about that home screen. I've submitted it a few times myself - maybe, just maybe, if they hear it enough they'll do something. Just a simple "don't show this again" like all the other home screens across the suite would be super. But why make...

Re-installing Quark 6.5 and valadation code

I think it was just holding down option-shift or command-shift or some combo while clicking "about quark". But to my recollection, that just showed the serial number - not the validation code. I agree with prepressdork, call them and explain - That shouldn't be a chargeable call (but we ARE...

    KM 1075 / 1085 vs. Xerox Versant 80 vs Ricoh C7100

Hah - That was EXACTLY our experience with the KM 8000. We're now running Xerox 1000's and have been absolutely happy with them coming up to a year after install now. We looked at the new KM's before getting our second 1000, but they looked way too similar to the 8000 for us to be comfortable...

    Mailers Haven - Any Feedback?

We're going to get our own permit, but were hoping to just have the pre-sorting/NCOA done outside. Will Mailers Haven do all of it? Like I said, currently we're using a local mailhouse, but they are slow, and un-responsive at times. What are you using for software? We've looked at Satori and...

    Mailers Haven - Any Feedback?

Has anyone used Mailers Haven (https://www.mailershaven.com/) and have any feedback on them? We're looking for someplace just to do simple mail sorts (de-dupe/NCOA) for small postcard jobs (anywhere from a couple hundred to max 5000). The local mail house we're currently using takes a long time...

    Making massive PDFs....

Since everyone else already gave you the lecture, I won't say anything about the evils of what you're doing, but when you save the file, are you leaving the "Preserve Illustrator Editing Capabilities" box checked? Unchecking that will usually result a much smaller PDF.

    Anyone visiting GraphExpo?

I went yesterday (Tuesday) Here's a gallery of just a few overall pics - Didn't really take any close-up pics of anything. http://printit.imgur.com/ Seemed like a pretty decent crowd to me, but some of the sales reps said it seemed slow to them. The big entry area booths (Xerox, HP, Canon...

    Xerox ColorPress 800 Fault 42-331

Sorry - Don't know what the 94-311 is - I just have the drum codes memorized because we've had a lot of those codes lately and problems with drums binding up. In regards to the drum code, one of our tech's has told us there's a lubrication strip in the drum that's actually causing more problems...

    Xerox ColorPress 800 Fault 42-331

Assuming the 800 has the same codes as the 1000, I think that's a drum motor fault, cyan I think... Have you recently changed drums? We've had a batch of drums that seem to spin freely when we take them out of the box, but they seem to be stiffening up after being installed for a while and...

    Booklet maker suggestions.

We have an offline CP-Bourg stitcher that runs collated - Runs pretty solid. A few service calls here and there, but nothing out of the ordinary. Comes right off the digital machines and scores, stitches and trims 3 sides in one pass.

Of course! The politician only gives you empty promises. The other two give you crappy machines along with their empty promises.

Xerox 1000i Trail Edge Bleed (blurry print)

I just ran that test on both our 1000's and not seeing anything like that on either. One machine has the Clear option, and one machine is just 4 color, but neither has that dropoff. Tested on 100# gloss text - is some stock worse than others for you?
