Processless, Chem-free, low chem plates – who cares?

Kevin my one question to this is what happens to the coating that falls outside the sheet? We run many different size sheets. 12.5 x 28 for 6 pagers, 17.5 x 22 for non bleed work, 19 x 25 for text bleed work, and 20 x 26 for cover bleed work, but we only have one plate size for that press...

    Agfa Azura

Could never say for sure without seeing your plate, But if it is vertical and each one is about an inch wide than from my experience it is a zone balancing issue. Zone balancing is inherent to the Dimension platesetter, the Agfa Ascento we run does not require such calibration. The need for...

What is everyone using for imposition proofs

Epson 9660, 60 lb bond roll paper, spray mount and a light table. Back ups are within mm. Only issue comes when booking up large books 40 + pages. The two sheets pasted together are thicker than what we would run so when you trim it down, your creep can be off. Not enough to buy a $17,000 +...

Fuji Pro V / ChemFree / Agfa Solution?

Running the Azura Ts for over a year and previously ran the Azura for three years. Love them both! Currently running them on 20 x 28 Komori Lithrone 5 color>

    Ecomaxx-T

Hi Mike, Don't be afraid of the processless plates, you should be more afraid of breathing blanket wash, but that is an entirely different story. We are a family business and my brother (pressman) was very skeptical about processless plates when we switched back in 2005. His mind was changed...

    Chem-free Process-free Plates Again

Mr Wehler, You would do yourself and you company a great service if you were to thoroughly read a post before commenting. Below is my original quote. The question asked was very specific and I answered it specifically. Stating 2x my lack of any knowledge about the Aurora. What I did answer...

    Chem-free Process-free Plates Again

Hi John, We spent 9 months with a Dimension and the Anthem Pro plates back in 2005 before switching to the Azura on an Asento. I do not know what the Aurora plate is or how it is imaged so I can't speak to that. But to answer your specific question :"Why would ablative be a negative, just...

    Agfa Azura

Beer my gum usage went from 1 jug per 4 weeks to 1 jug aprox every 6 weeks. But our plate usage is also down so I can't say for certain it was the TS. One thing I will say, on the day of the switch we ran a poster for the NFL on the old Azura. The Agfa techs took about an hour to adjust the...

    Agfa Azura

Ritter, I could not agree with you more. It just seems to me that this is a discussion of "theory vs. actuality" The "theory" is that without checking a plate you must be a fool and I quote Alois "So we have another " Fool" in the Pre Press, not checking the Plates, no wonder the Printers...

    Agfa Azura

I take offense to the word "fool." You have no concept of my business or my clients, the awards we have won or the people who we print for.

    Agfa Azura

Hi Gordo, We run Artworks Paragon Screening @ 175. We have not found any need to check our plates on a regular basis. Sorry missed a part of the question, as far as calibration, what I mean, is that I have not changed any settings on the platesetter since install 4+ years except for when...

    Agfa Azura

I ran the original Azura for 4 years and have been on the faster TS for about 8 months now. Have never changed my calibrations once. We do a lot of critical color work, i,e Pharma, and Cosmetics, no issue. The plate is a rock!!!

    Nexus and memory management

Just an FYI, Nexus no longer officially supports Windows 2000 for anything past Version 8.6. So if you go to version 9 your are gonna have to be running Windows Server 2003 or later.

    chemistry free plates (research)

Only difference is that my plates now image faster. Other than that they were a drop in like the Azura. My proofer profiles all matched and our print matched. We ran 500 test sheets on the old Azura plates and 500 test sheets of the same image afterward on the Azura TS. No one is the shop...

    Azura Chemistry free plates

We have been using them here for about 4 + years. Pressman love them, pre-ress loves them. We do not have a UV press so can not speak to that. Our average run length is 20,000 and under but we have run them upwards of 150,000 with no issues. Our work is higher-end 4/5 color commercial sheetfed...

    Varnish on Digital Prints?

We don't have a digital press here but we have run Toyo's press varnish on a few jobs for Digital printers using or Komori Lithrone Ran 45,000 Covers that were printed on an Igen and runs of 10,000 and below that were printed on an Indigo. Never an issue

    how's business

With the holidays right around the corner and advertising budgets being spent. I have a feeling it's going to be a long winter. I could not agree more. Budgets are locked in for this year, but I expect next years budgets to me much different. That could be good or bad depending on where...

    Chem-free plates pros/cons?

Babylon, Our experiences here are much likes Beers, except for the fact that we have been running the Azura's for close to 4 years now. We are a 20 x 28 Komori commercial printer (aprox 500 plates per month) running high end fashion, retail, and pharmaceutical work outside of Manhattan. Like...

    Punching plates with CTP device

We retro-fitted our Agfa Ascento S with an internal punch about 6 months after install. We have a Komori Lithrone 20 x 28 and the internal punch saved an average of 4-5 minutes of registration time per from, and about 30-50 sheets of paper per form. ROI was about a month.
